Poderoso Babylon

Ancient Babylon rises behind the monumental Ishtar Gate, its deep blue glazed walls crowned with battlements and patterned with sacred animal reliefs. Palm trees and stepped towers fill the horizon, giving the city the scale of an imperial stronghold at the height of its power.

The scene evokes Babylon as the biblical symbol of human pride, empire, wealth, and spiritual opposition to the Lord. In the book of Daniel, Babylon becomes the place of exile where God’s covenant people are tested, yet also the stage where God proves His sovereignty over kings and kingdoms. The fortified gate and vast city walls recall Nebuchadnezzar’s boast over “great Babylon,” a moment answered by divine humbling.
