Moses consecrates the priesthood in the wilderness sanctuary, placing sacrificial blood upon the hand of a robed priest as other men stand nearby in ceremonial garments. The basin, vessel, and cloth on the table point to the ritual washing and offerings commanded for Israel’s priests before they could minister before the Lord. The scene reflects the ordination of Aaron and his sons, when blood was applied to the ear, thumb, and toe to set apart their hearing, service, and walk for holy worship. In the biblical pattern, priestly consecration teaches that ministry begins with cleansing, sacrifice, and obedience to God’s appointed covenant order.
